Anna was born in Velenky, Czechoslavakia. She immigrated with her family to Chicago in 1889. She married first Robert C. Holloway in 1906. By 1907 he had left Chicago and did not return. In June 1909 Anna filed for divorce on grounds of desertion, her divorce attorney was John M. Carter. In Dec 1909 her divorce was granted. In 1910 Viola Carter, her with John M. Carter was born. They never married, but he remained in his daughter's life until his death. In Dec 1917, Anna married her second husband, Joseph Clayton. In April 1923, Joseph filed for divorce which was granted Sept. 1923 in Ohio. In 1930 she and ex-husband Joseph Clayton purchased a house together intending to remarry. On May 14, 1930 he was found dead in their car in the garage of that home from carbon monoxide poisoning. Anna moved from Chicago to Santa Fe, NM to be near her daughter by 1955.
