Jay Brunson Rust, age 86, passed away early Saturday morning, November 11, at his residence in South Cle Elum. He was a resident of the Upper County area since 1918. He was born August 31, 1886 in Hastings, Minnesota, to Clarence and Ella (Fitch) Rust, and was united I marriage to Agnes R Yount, at Ellensburg on May 16, 1924.

Jay operated service stations, also Frank's Tire Shop for many years. He worked for the Patrick Mines as a weigh-master until the mines closed. Following retirement he raised chickens in the South Cle Elum area for 10 years. Jay is a charter member and a past president of the Cle Elum Kiwanis Club. He was also a member of the Cle Elum Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes Rust; one son;three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Clarence Rust, St. Paul, Minnesota, and Spencer Rust, Livingston, Montana; and one sister, Mrs. Florence Anderson, St. Paul.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Amy Cummings Rust, whom he married March 13.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, November 14, 1972, at 2:00 P.M. in the Cle Elum Community Church with the Reverend John Congdon, officiating. Masonic Graveside services followed at Laurel Hill Memorial Park with burial in the family plot. Brown's Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
