She had been in ill health for over a year, but this week complications set in which were the direct cause of her death. She was the mother of Mrs. H.F. Schrupp (Alice) and Mrs. Albert Marsh (Mae) of this city; Mrs. George Minnette (Dorothy), of Sauk Center; Walter Allen, of Minneapolis; and Irwin D. Allen, of Cooperstown, N.D. A daughter, Mrs. B.H. Richards (Clara), and a son, Clayton Allen, preceded their mother in death. Funeral arrangements have not been completed but in all probability the funeral will take place Saturday afternoon. Sympathy is expressed the sorrowing family in their bereavement.

Mrs. Alma Turnbull Allen, widow of the late George E. Allen, passed away at her home in this city on Thursday morning, Jan. 21, at 8:05 o’clock, aged 78 years, 6 months and 13 days. During the last three years she had suffered periods of ill health, but was about the home and apparently in usual health until the Sunday prior to her demise. The direct cause of her death was obstruction of the bowels.
The late Mrs. Allen (nee Alma Turnbull) was born July 8, 1853, at Willsboro, New York, the daughter of James D. and Lucy Turnbull. She was united in marriage at that place with George E. Allen on Sept. 10, 1872. From Willsboro they moved to Big Stone Lake, where they lived for a few years before establishing their permanent home in Glencoe over 50 years ago. Mr. Allen died November 12, 1921.
Eight children were the issue of this marriage, five of whom survive their mother. They are Irwin D. Allen, of Cooperstown, N.D.; Walter Allen, of Minneapolis; Mrs. Henry Schrupp (Alice), and Mrs. Albert Marsh (Mae) of Glencoe; Mrs. George Minette (Dorothy), of Sauk Center. One son, Halsey, died in infancy; a daughter Mrs. B.H. Richards (Clara) died five years ago, and a son, Clayton J. passed away February 16, 1931.
Mrs. Allen is also survived by a brother, William J. Turnbull, of Glencoe.
Funeral rites were held last Sunday afternoon. Prayers were offered at the home at 2 o’clock, and services were conducted at the Congregational church at 2:30 o’clock. Mrs. Frank Reimers sang “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere,” and “Abide With Me.” Rev. J. Greyham Morgan officiated at the home, church and cemetery.
Interment was in the family lot in the Glencoe cemetery. The pallbearers chosen from residents in the neighborhood where the deceased resided for many years, were Lorin O. Butler, Louis Knick, Herman Asche, William Johnson, Elmer Beihoffer and Geo. Dehning. A large number of neighbors and friends of the deceased assembled with the members of the family and the brother at the last sad rites.
Amoung those from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Irwin D. Allen, of Cooperstown, N.D.; Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Allen, B.H. Richards and son and daughter, Allan and Lucile, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nelson, Mrs. Wm. Beggs, Mrs. James Walsh and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Swenson, all of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Minette and Spencer Marsh, of Sauk Center; Mrs. Hugo Mahs, of Hutchinson; Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Schrupp, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kroehler, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Schultz and Mrs. Mary Kroehler, all of Henderson.
The last Mrs. Allen was an affectionate mother, and a woman who was beloved by neighbors and the wide circle of friends she enjoyed in this community. Heartfelt sympathy is expressed for the sorrowing children and brother in the loss they have sustained.
