Annie had a twin sister Fannie ALLIS who is buried next to her. The sisters also had a younger brother William Baker ALLIS who was a Congregational clergyman.
MRS ANNIE ALLIS-PAYNE
Mrs Annie Allis-Payne of Southold died at Brentwood Sanitarium Saturday evening Dec 6 following a long period of invalidism. Funeral services were held at the Beebe Brothers Funeral Parlors in Cutchogue on Tuesday at 11 am.
She is survived by one daughter Helen, and also by her twin sister Miss Fannie Allis, and by several nephews.
Mrs Payne came to Southold years ago as Miss Annie Allis to act as principal of the old Southold Academy. Some years later she married Henry M Payne of Southold. She has continued a resident of Southold down through the years, serving the community efficiently in many capacities. She was a faithful member of the Southold Presbyterian Church and the Ladies' Aid Society and the Missionary Society. She was for many years a valued and faithful trustee of Southold's library.
Always cheerful and willing to do her part, she will be remembered with love by her many friends.
