Son of producer Jack Cohn, Curtis was a vice president for Donahue & Coe advertising agency as well as VP for the Weiss and Geller ad agency. He started his career placing ads for Columbia Pictures. While at Columbia he bought the rights to Malcom Johnson's work that later was filmed as "On the Waterfront." Unfortunately he died shortly before the film was named "Best Picture of the Year." For reasons not known, he changed his name from Cohn to Curtis at the request of his wife.
