John "Johnny" Oscar Adams, son
of James H. Adams Sr. and Mary
Vanderhoff Adams, was born Nov. 20,
1925 in Alta. He attended Fairview
School, rural Alta, prior to the Alta
School in Alta. He worked in the dairy
business with Harold Poller prior to entering
the Army. Following the service
he worked for John Swanson in the
dairy business. He later purchased the
business, Alta Dairy, retiring in 1979.
John died on Apr. 5, 1994 at Sioux
Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee.
He was a member of the United
Methodist Church in Alta, honorary
member and past Fire Chief of the Alta
Fire Department, life-time member of
the V.F. W. of Alta and D. A. V. life member
of Storm Lake.
He was preceded in death by his
parents and one brother, Jesse.
