DAVID ZIMMERMAN, farmer. Sec. 27 ; P.O. Rock Grove; born in Centre Co., Penn., Aug. 4, 1819; came to Stephenson Co., 111., in 1854, and settled on Sec. 27. Rock Grove Township, where he now owns 150 acres of land, valued at 850 an acre. In 1844, he married Miss Elsie E. Ickes, of Perry Co., Penn., who is a daughter of the old revolutionary soldier, Nicholas Ickes; the family consists of eight children: Catherine E., now Mrs. J. Musser; Emma C., Andrew, Albert N., Laura J., Codella L., Saloma A. and Lewis E. Mr. Zimmerman has held the offices of Assessor in 1865, of Supervisor in 1868 on the Republican ticket, and belongs to the Presbyterian Church; in the Sabbath school he has been an earnest worker.
