Susie R. Butterbaugh, 86, Gallitzin, died Sunday at Altoona Regional.
She was born in Gallitzin, daughter of the late Guiseppe and Catherine (DiModica) Tornarelli.
Surviving are three children: Allen (Linda Balestino) of Altoona, Roxanne (Ardell) Ball of Ashville and Mary Catherine Stoskey of Cresson; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and five siblings: Amelia Boggs of Pitcairn, Joseph of Baltimore, Md., Christine Finklestine of Gallitzin, Ronald of Baltimore, Md., and Georgianna Shevenock of Gallitzin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen, on May 28, 1977; a granddaughter, Clarissa Ball; three brothers: Domenick, Nunzio and Alfred; a sister, Matilda Short; and a son-in-law, Butch Stoskey.
Susie worked as a seamstress for Eaglewear and Publix Shirt Factory, Gallitzin, and retired in 1992. She was a member of St. Demetrius Parish, Gallitzin. She also was a bartender for the Gallitzin American Legion for 15 years, a member of the Gallitzin Lions and past president in 2000, president of the Gallitzin American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in 2000 and member of Sankertown VFW Ladies Auxiliary, St. Anthony Society, Altoona, and Senior Citizens.
Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where a vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012, at St. Demetrius Parish, Gallitzin, the Rev. Albert Ledoux as celebrant. Committal will be at St. Patrick Cemetery.
