Mildred Susan "Minnie" Niepert is the daughter of Henry Frank Niepert and Florence Rongey. She was married to Frederick Herman Henry Sandweg (1887-1974).

Minnie was a beautiful, intelligent, adventurous woman.

Mildred "Minnie Sue" (Niepert) Sandweg, 81, of Glen Carbon, formerly of Granite City, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1985, at 6:40 p.m. at Eden Village Care Center, Edwardsville.

Born in Granite City on April 9, 1904, she had resided here for more than 60 years before moving to Glen Carbon.

Mrs. Sandweg retired in 1969 from Illinois Power Company after 43 years. She had been a switchboard operator.

She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ. Her husband, Fred Sandwg, preceded her in death in 1973.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Ray (Loretta) Leasburg of Missouri, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Mercer Mortuary Chapel, 1416 Niedringhaus Ave., by the Rev. Allen Reiter. Burial was at St. John's Cemetery, Granite City.

Memorials are requested for the Cancer Society.

Mrs. Sandweg was a switchboard operator for Illinois Power Co.. for 43 years, she retired in 1969.

Funeral services Tues., 1 p.m. at MERCER Chapel, 1416 Niedringhaus Ave, Granite City, conducted by Rev. Allen Reiter. Visitation Mon., after 4 p.m. Interment St. John's Cemetery, Granite City. Memorials preferred to Cancer Society.
