Nancy Ruth Edley was born in Garrison Lane, Warren County, Kentucky, on September 10, 1903, to Lawrence J. and Emma Austin. After her sister, Jessie, married Daniel Stout, Ruth moved to Dade County, Florida with them and their children. She married Leonard Lee Reese of Dade (now Miami-Dade) County, Florida, and they had one son, Leonard Lee Reese, Jr. in 1921. She died in September 1974 in Arlington, Virginia.
