Lemuel H. Smotherman, age 87, a resident of Italy, Texas passed away Friday morning, August 27, 2004 in Italy. He was born on March 23, 1917 in Lewisville, Texas to P. F. and Annie Smotherman. Lemuel was a member of the First Baptist Church in Italy. He married Margaret M. Hill on December 12, 1966. He had been a farmer for most of his life.
Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Margaret; two sisters, Clara Roberts and Annie Spriggs of Italy, TX; half-brother, Dr. Ronnie Smotherman of California; four step-daughters, Bobbie Rambeau, Georgie Graham, Jimmie Wareham all of California and Sandra Walsh of Houston, TX; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Juanita Batte and Eloise Similar.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 P. M. Sunday, August 29, 2004 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy with Reverend Ronnie Dabney officiating. Interment will follow at the Italy Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Harry Walsh, Michael Similar, Thomas Walsh, Benny Cunningham, Karl Essinger and Paul Wimer.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy from 6 - 8 PM Saturday, August 28, 2004.
