"Mr. Sherwood Downey, 88 years old of Coleman passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012 at his residence.
"Mr. Downey was born on July 1, 1924 in Coleman County to Patrick Wesley Downey and Fannie Fern Wilson. He earned a Masters Degree from Texas Tech University, and taught school for over 30 years. Sherwood married Jean Clark on February 1, 1948 in Coleman, they have shared 64 years together.
"Survivors include; his loving wife Jean, 2 sons; Mike Downey of Bryan, Texas and Pat Downey of Coppell, Texas, 1 sister; Doris Dehnel and Family of Grape Creek, 3 granddaughters; Krista Downey, Kaila Downey, and Chelsey Downey, 1 grandson; Davis Downey, several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
"Visitationj will be Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. In the Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Tracy Bartley officiating, interment will follow in the Gouldbusk Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home."
