Elaine Bailey Cook Rye, 88, of Roanoke, Va. and formerly of Goodwill and Norfolk, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 27, 2004 at the home of her daughter.

She was born on May 29, 1916 in Duhring and was a member of Cave Spring United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Rye was preceded in death by her husbands Garland H. Cook and Charles M. Rye; her parents Clifton C. Bailey and Lena G. Mateer Bailey; two brothers, Byron C. Bailey and Thomas E. Bailey; a sister, Iva M. Bailey; and a granddaughter, Catherine E. Foti.

Surviving are: A daughter, Roberta 'Sue' and husband Victor F. Foti of Roanoke; three stepdaughters, Ora Phipps of Bluefield, Mary Tyree of Blacksburg, S.C., Mae Wimmer of Bluefield, Va.; three grandchildren, Vickie S. Guilliams and husband Robert Victor F. Foti Jr., Elizabeth A. Groves and husband Scott, all of Roanoke; four great-grandchildren, Sarah Guilliams, William Guilliams, Madison Foti, Delaney Groves, all of Roanoke; and a brother, Douglas A. Bailey of Norfolk, Va.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday from the graveside of Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with the Rev. Bruce D. Tuttle and the Rev. Arthur W. Wingfield officiating.
