A Mass of Christian Burial for Andrew Aymond will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Fifth Ward with Rev. Silverino Kwebuza officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Cemetery under the direction of Kramer of Fifth Ward.

Andrew Aymond, 61, of Fifth Ward, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 in Hessmer Nursing Home.

Mr. Aymond was born and raised in Mansura until marriage, then became a resident of Fifth Ward. He had a career in food sales for fifteen years, and then worked for eighteen years in security as a master sergeant at Avoyelles Correctional Center where his friends and co-workers fondly knew him as "Puppy". Mr. Aymond served as a volunteer fireman of the Fifth Ward Volunteer Fire Department. He served as an usher in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and actively participated as a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #9418 of Fifth Ward.

He was a devoted husband and father who loved talking and joking with family, friends, and co-workers. In his spare time you would find him listening to French music or oldies, playing his guitar and accordion, or enjoying a day trip to South Louisiana. Parkinson's and dementia ended his life too soon. He never met a stranger and will be sadly missed by those who knew him well.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cilton Aymond and Lizadee Gaspard Aymond.

Andrew Aymond is lovingly survived by his wife of 37 years, Delilah Bordelon Aymond; two daughters, Melanie Aymond and companion, Adam; Kelley Aymond Juneau and husband, Brad all of Fifth Ward; three granddaughters, Renee, Callie and Mazie; one grandson, Brice Drew and one sister, Mildred Mayeux and husband, Marvin of Mansura.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2011 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Monday at Kramer of Fifth Ward.

A Christian Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
