Joseph Pearce was born in Illogen, Cornwall, England and baptized March 31 1833 there. His parents were Noel Pearce and Thomasine Tregoning. He immigrated to the United States with his brothers and sisters living in Barton, Maryland. He then moved to New Orleans where he married Mary Ann Baird and had eleven children. He was a blacksmith as were all of his brothers and his father.
