She was born June 12, 1922, in Wheatland and had lived in Cheyenne since 1941.
Doris and her twin sister were the first twins born in the Wheatland Hospital. She was the youngest of six children born to Charles Thomas and Leona (Hixson) Moore and was raised on a ranch outside of Wheatland.
She graduated in 1940 from Wheatland High School and married Milton D. Kiser in 1940, with whom she had two daughters. She later married Don Cheever in 1960.
Mrs. Cheever was a hairdresser for 53 years, retiring at age 79. Doris was a very active member of First Christian Church and very active in volunteer work with the Botanic Gardens, Cheyenne Health Care Center, Meals on Wheels and hospital visitations.
Mrs. Cheever is survived by her good friend, Everett Rhoads; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and Ken Stroh of Lander and Carolyn and Wally Franzen of Cheyenne; a sister, Beula O'Bryan of Wheatland; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Cheever in 1996; her parents; a brother, Tom Moore; and three sisters, Margaret Gaddis, Dorothy Carey and Virgie Preuit.
