Co B. 2nd Mich. Cav.
Hicks, Francis, Dansville. Enlisted in company B, Second Cavalry, Sept. 9. 1861, at Dansville, for 3 years, age 20. Mustered Oct. 2, 1861. Died at Hamburg, Tenn., May 7, 1862. Buried in Union National Cemetery, Corinth, Miss. Grave unknown. Original place of interment, Farmington, Miss.
Information taken from Records of service of Michigan volunteers in the Civil War 1861-1865.
Unsure about the discrepancy between where there record states he is buried and where he is buried now. Looked for the Union National Cemetery and could not find it, so maybe all the soldiers were removed and reburied here or the records are wrong. Not sure why if he died in Tennessee, he would be buried in Miss.
