Zachery "Zach" William Whiteman, 20, of Fort Ashby, W.Va., died Friday, July 13, 2012, in Fort Ashby.

Born Feb. 8, 1992, in Cumberland, he was the son of Brenda Lee (Martin) Whiteman and David Paul Whiteman.

Zach was a 2010 graduate of Frankfort High School and had attended Potomac State College. He was employed at Hunter Douglas as a fabricator.

Zach enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his 4-wheeler. He loved to ride around in his truck with his dog, Mason Allen.

Zach and his beloved mother, Brenda, died on the same day. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Jimmy "Bubby" Martin.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his sister, Olivia; maternal grandparents, Al and Liz Martin; paternal grandparents, David and Betty Whiteman; aunts, uncles, and cousins; Uncle Mike and Aunt Dora and friends who were like brothers to him, Daniel Williams, Christopher VonHagel, and Curtis "Chico" Braithwaite.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc, Route 28, Fort Ashby (304-999-2010) on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 11 a.m. in Springfield Assembly of God Church, Route 28, Springfield, with the Rev. Michael Leedom and the Rev. Richard Jewell officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher VonHagel, Danny Williams, Chico Braithwaite, Eric Borror, Josh Holland, and Darrin Holland.
