She immigrated through Hamburg in 1850 with parents, a sister, and an uncle's family. They are listed as follows: Johann Voss 36, Catharina 38, Anna 10, Dorothea 8, Claus 6, Catharina .09, Johann 32, Margaretha 31, Catharina 10, Elisabeth 6 months.
Johann and Margaretha lived in Caton, New York between 1850-1866. They do not appear on the census of 1860, but do appear on the NY censuses of 1855 & 1865 as follows: John Foss, Margaret, Ann C. Owens, Arabella, John H., Joseph E., Margaret, August.
Elisabeth Arabella Voss married August Stolp, whom was born in Rehe, Nassau, Germany on May 24 1827. August passed away on December 26, 1866 in Yorkville or Oswego, IL. (Could have lived until April 20, 1884 in Mazon, IL.)
Children of August and Elisabeth:
John Augusta Stolp (1868-1947) born in Morris, Grundy, IL, whose children lived in Aurora, IL, he died 22 Feb 1947, Elgin, Kane, IL.
Frank Ernest Stolp (1870-1957) whose family lived in NW Iowa, married Bertha Caroline Kleve. He passed away on 9 Mar 1957 in Aurora, IL. Buried in Allendorf, Osceola, Iowa.
Bertha Caroline was the daughter of William Kleve and Caroline Haas and was the sister of my husband's grandfather, Fred Kleve. Bertha was born 13 Nov 1869 in Prussia (Germany) and died 12 Apr 1962 in Ashton, Sibley County, Iowa. Bertha and Frank Stolp had 5 children (who lived - may have had more): Frank Charles, Lettie Irene, Louie, Charley Rudolph, and Bertha Caroline. (Thanks to Gail #46919309)
Charles Hulcy Stolp (1871-1960) #86093712 whose family was well-known in Northern IL. He married Mary Leticia Hilliard Stolp (#86093714) in 1897.
Elisabeth Arabella later married Arthur J Briggs, born in England in January, 1850. Arthur J. passed away in 1915. From this union one son was born; Albert William Briggs who died at 10 mo.
