BROMLEY, AURELIA; age 88; of Rochester Hills; April 19, 2011. Wife of the late Rowley H;
A Veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Private Family Services will be held. Arrangements by Pixley Funeral Home, Rochester. Reedy had a wonderful smile and personality...she lived for her family and dearly loved her husband, kids and grandkids. She is dearly missed by all of those who loved and were blessed to know her.

Walking with my mother when I was a small child in downtown Rochester I saw a man look at us, do a double take and then come rushing over to us. Not understanding what he wanted I was fearful but it turned out my mother knew his name and seemed to know a great deal about him, asking him questions about the welfare of various members of his family. The man seemed to grow happier by the minute as he spoke to her. This was my first introduction to my mother’s gift with people; combining a remarkable memory with a bright smile and a warm, welcoming manner. She seemed to know everyone in town by name, would remember even small details about their lives, inquiring as to their family members and showing great interest in their lives. I was amazed not only by this gift but the way people would respond to my mother, like she was a dear friend whom they held in high esteem. People seemed to just love her and she seemed to genially care about their lives. I learned as I grew older, going anywhere with my mother meant that one person after another would recognize her, rush over and eagerly talk to her so that a five minute run to the store might take hours because of the way people flocked to her. When asked how she liked being in uniform and serving her country during WW2 she responded, “I loved every minute of it!” Sadly, in the last years of her life her ability to remember seemed to dissolve away leaving her unsure even as to who I was in the end. She loved life, loved her family and seemed to love the people she met.
