Emma Goyen Innis was the 9th of 11 children born to Thomas and Martha Goyen. She got her teachers certificate at age of 17. She taught school at Vici, Ok for a few years. She moved to Wyoming and taught school at Little Bear. Her brother was manager at the Horse Creek HU ranch. She spent as much time with Charlie and his wife as possible. At the age of 35, She met Asa, who worked at a neighboring ranch C-Y. They were married in 1919. in Woodward, OK and lived there for 9 years where Asa worked as a laborer surveyor, before going back to Wyoming. Emma had inherited her father's farm and her brother Benjamin's land, insurance and possessions after his death. She did divide it all among her brothers and sisters. They bought a 160 acre irrigated farm. The oldest son died in 1930 at the age of 9. They raised three girls (Roberta, Velma and Mary) and did a good job. They sold the farm and returned to a home in Wheatland and lived out the rest of their lives. --- Told by Corlis Goyen.
