Jessie was born on September 15, 1912, in Fulton County, Indiana, to Julies and Edith (Walters) Becker. Jessie married Merton Snyder on June 20, 1936, in Plymouth. Merton passed away on March 31, 1984. She was a wife, homemaker, mother, and worked with her husband at Snyder's Restaurant. Snyder's started out serving Frozen Custard and in 1956 they were the first restaurant, in Plymouth, to serve pizza. They also had a car wash, miniature golf course, and a mobile home park, behind their restaurant, on North Michigan Street, across from Centennial Park. Jessie was a member of the Community Baptist Church in South Bend, Indiana, and volunteered with the Gideon's International.
Jessie is survived by her daughter, Nancy Lee of Argos, Indiana; her two sons, Stephen (Margie) Snyder of South Bend and Stewart (Rosemary) Snyder of Plymouth; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merton Snyder; her daughter, Sandra Cook; and her son, M. Bruce Snyder; one sister; and three brothers.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 25, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana.
Services will be Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., at Van Gilder Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tim Lee officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
