Elizabeth Giles Childress, 90, of Chatham, died July 17, 2012 at Danville Regional Medical Center. Born April 2, 1922 in Pittsylvania Co. She was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Giles and the late Lemma Hutcherson Giles.
She lived her entire life in Pittsylvania Co. She retired from Dan River Mills, Inc. with 44 years of service. She was a devoted member of Samuel Harris Memorial Baptist Church.
Mrs. Childress was married to the late Thurman J. Childress. He died on November 7, 1996.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy Myers; Three grandchildren; One sister, Nancy G. Newby. She was also predeceased by two brothers, William Giles and Clarence Thomas Giles; two sisters, Doris G. Newby and Margaret G. Hardy.
Interment will be at Danville Memorial Gardens. Scott Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
