Concert and operatic bass. He toured with the orchestra of Theodore Thomas and was the leading bass at the Metropolitan Opera in NY from 1908-1916. In 1935, he became general manager of the Metropolitan Opera on the retirement of Gatti-Casazza but died a month later.
