J.W. was a member of Charity Independent Baptist Church in Gastonia. He was retired from Warner Swayze and was a U.S. Army Veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Keever Kanipe; brother, Howard Kanipe; sisters, Jeanette Coley,Bessie Lytton,Lola Holland, and Pearl Thorne,step-son, Danny Parton and son-in-law, Marty McDaniel.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Rita McDaniel of Bessemer City, Myra Stillwell and husband, Glenn of Gastonia; special caregiver, Bobbie Parton; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral:Greene Funeral Service West Chapel in Gastonia officiated by the Rev. Sam Robbins.
Interment:Westview Gardens in Bessemer City.
