Lew Richie was a major league baseball pitcher. He pitched decently although sparsely while learning his craft in his first two years, finishing in the top 10 in his league in games finished and fewest hits per 9 innings. In 1908, he began to put it together, being in the top 10 in fewest home runs allowed per 9 innings and fifth in adjusted ERA. Decently and sparsely was the order again in 1909. He was in the top 10 in winning % and saves in 1910, and pitched a scoreless inning in game two of the World Series. He put together his best season in 1911, 7th in fewest hits per 9 innings and shutouts, 6th in winning %, and 2nd in ERA. He won sixteen in 1912 and was in the top six in winning % and shutouts. He lost his effectiveness in 1913, his last year in the majors. He also provided many humorous antics for the Sporting News' Ring Lardner. He was called the Giant Killer for his success against them.
