The remains of Capt. W.C. Shipp, who died at St. Joseph's Hospital, Memphis, Sunday, were brought to this city today and interred in Cedar Heights Cemetery. The deceased was 83 years of age, 63 of which were spent in active service as a river man. He had been pilot and captain of various steamers operating on the Mississippi and tributaries, for the past several years on the the St. Francis and L'Anguille Rivers. A short while prior to his recent illness he was connected with the steamer, Nettie Johnson. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and one son.
