YOUNGTOWN, Ariz. - Doyle George "Dobie" Bell, 74, of Youngtown, Ariz., and Clearfield died Monday, March 3, 1997, at Carl Hayden Veterans Medical Center, Phoenix, Ariz.

Born April 26, 1922, in Clearfield, he was the son of the late George Alexander Bell and Flora Mae (Hess) Bell Hudson.

Mr. Bell was a retired senior master sergeant who served 30 years in the U. S. Air Force and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict. He and his father enlisted together after Pearl Harbor.

Mrs. Bell was a registered official for high school sports. While serving in Japan, he organized and coached the Air Force wrestling team at Tachikawa Base an he was the champion in the heavy weight class. He was active in coaching football and wrestling at all ages at every air base at which he was stationed.

He was a letterman in wrestling and football at the Clearfield High School and was a member of the undefeated 1939 CHS football team. He graduated from the high school in the Class of 1940.

He was a charter member of the Sun City, Ariz., Elks Lodge 2559 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6308 of Sun City - Youngtown, Ariz.

Mr. Bell moved to Arizona in 1972 after retiring from the the Air Force. During the summers, he returned to Clearfield for class reunions and renewing old friendships.

He was married on Oct. 24, 1944, to the former Mildred Bowers, who survives.

Also surviving are on son, Doyle Edward of Puyallup, Wash.; a daughter, Madelene Alana Bell of Sumner, Wash.; and seven of 12 step-brothers and step-sisters.

A private family service was held in Arizona. A memorial service is planned in Clearfield for later this summer.
