A memorial service will be held 1 PM Saturday July 21, 2007 at Canfield United Methodist Church for Muriel Lynn Hampton, 95, of Canfield who passed away Thursday July 12, 2007 at her home.
Muriel was born May 6, 1912 in East Palestine, Ohio the daughter of William and Myrtle (Williams) Daniels. She was an active member of the church and was the Director and a teacher in the pre school program for 40 years. Muriel was a certified lab teacher for the United Methodist Church for 20 years and a church school teacher for 20 years. She was an honorary member of the Delta-Kappa-Gamma Education Sorority, a member of the Board of Tru-Ma-Col Education for young children, the Ohio State Board of Accreditation and on the board of the Youngstown Children's Theater. Muriel was also honored by Canfield Rotary as the 1st Citizen of the Year for Canfield.
Her husband, Frank W. Hampton, whom she married in 1936, passed away in 1982. She leaves two sons; Jack (Nancy) Hampton of Goodyear AZ, and Mark Hampton of New York City, two grandsons; Jeffrey (Donna) Hampton of Scottsdale AZ, and Robert (Mary) Hampton of Chicago IL, as well as two great grandchildren; Dustin and Danielle Hampton both of Chicago IL.
Besides her husband, Muriel was preceded in death by a brother Marvin Daniels.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to services in the church.
Arrangements were by Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family requests material tributes take the form of donations to the Youngstown Children's Theater or the Canfield United Methodist Pre School Program in Muriel's name
