Born Flemington, Vic, third son of William Henry & Annie (nee Blackwell) Henderson. He married Elsie May White in 1911.
Herbert enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 23 March 1916, aged 30 years and embarked from Sydney for active service abroad on 30 September 1916 per HMAT "Aeneas" (A60).
Driver, 10th Field Company Engineers, Service No. 15075.
He returned to Australia on 21/7/1918.
He died in the Repatriation Hospital Heidelberg, Vic. aged 70 years.
