Grandson of House Representative Alfred Edgerton. He married Margaret Hughes Armstrong in 1910. They had three children, Margaret (Peg), Robert (Bob), and Mary. Robert deserted his family in 1915. He filed a libel suit claiming Margaret had deserted him. Irregardless of the fact she was still living in the same house they had occupied with their children and his father Satterlee at the time. He served in the 470th aero squadron from Nov 1917-Jan 1919 as a 1st Lt. They built Lopcombe Corner airfield in Wiltshire, England and buildings at the Morrison, VA aviation concentration camp, as the 58th aero instruction squadron. In December of 1919, Margaret divorced Robert for utter desertion. He remarried July 10, 1920 in New Hampshire to Zelda Block, with whom he had been having an affair before he deserted Margaret.

Gravesite Details

Cremated at Newton Cemetery but was not buried there. Ashes taken by his step son Malcolm May.
