He was born May 20, 1942 in San Diego, CA, to Clarence and Goldie Hansen Wood. He was raised in Teton Valley and graduated from Teton High School.

He grew up working at his father's service station and area farms. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He served in the Army National Guard and received an honorable discharge.

On November 21, 1964 he married DeeAnn Dorris in Tetonia Idaho. They lived in Rexburg and then in Sugar City until her death in 2006. They were blessed with four children, Curtis, Darin, Michelle and Brian.

He worked at and then co-owned Hanson Furniture with his brother, Myron Wood, for 40 plus years. He retired and was able to enjoy being with family, playing golf and fishing.
