Years of research have not found the parents of Benjamin Roberts. Benjamin was born about 1800 in Mississippi. His nickname maybe "Jim". He was living in Jefferson Co, Mississippi on Feb. 6, 1823 when he married Frances Louellander (Lavender) "Fanny" Searcy.Fanny was born 1800 to 1805 in Jefferson Co, Mississippi. Her parents were John Searcy and Susannah Cole. Benjamin and Fanny had moved to Neshoba County before 1835.
They are shown in the 1840 census and the 1841 list in Neshoba County with 11 in the family.
On Feb 27, 1841 Benjamin was issued 40.04 acres in neshoba County by the General land office.
They are listed in the 1850 census with only their younger children Martha, Sarah, Frances, Benjamin, Jane, Angeline, and James living with them.
Benjamin's wife Frances died in before May of 1859 when Benjamin died. There was a petition by his son-in-law James Jones as adm. of his estate on Nov. 26, 1860. Part of his children were named. Mary, John Henry, Susan, Benjamin F., Sarah, Martha, Frances L, Emira Jane, Angeline M, and James Montgomery. They may have had a son Bryan.
There was a probate petition in 1860. Both Frances and Benjamin were buried in Neshoba County but the cemetery is not known.
