Samuel Bennett Died Here Monday, Oct. 24
Samuel David Bennett, a resident of Superior since 1939, and of the Hardy community for many years, passed away here Monday, Oct. 24. He was 89 years, 11 months and 27 days of age.
Mr. Bennett was born at Elizabeth, Ind., Oct. 27, 1865, and moved with his parents to Illinois in 1877, then to Shickley, Neb., in 1880. He was married to Nellie Anderson on April 14, 1889. They lived at Carleton, at Hardy for 12 years and then at Bloomington.
Five children were born to the union, Clarence and Earl now deceased, Emmett, Sylvia and Roy.
In 1923 Mr. Bennett was united in marriage to Nettie Middleton. She died in 1936.
Mr. Bennett was married to Margaret Andrews at Mankato, Kan., in February, 1939 and they have resided in Superior since that time.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret, two sons, Emmett of Meridian, Idaho, and Roy of Cheney, Wash.; one daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Keen of Cambridge, Neb.; one sister, Mrs. Clara Ralstin of Hastings, eight step-children, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held this (Thursday) morning at 10 o'clock, at the Megrue Funeral home, with Rev. Robert Wigert officiating. Interment is being made at Bloomington this afternoon with the Odd Fellows lodge in charge of the services. Mr. Bennett had been a member of the I.O.O.F. for 50 years.
