He was retired from Harding Machine.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ervin Alexander of Lexington; two sons, Davy McCollum and Michael McCollum, both of Medina; a brother, Billy Joe Alexander of Lexington; a sister, Tara Middleton of Wildersville and five grandchildren.
