Sandra Kay Bates was the daughter of the late Orbie Buckelew and Jennatte Holland Buckelew. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at Bethsadis Bapitist Church with Rev. Marvin Brock officiating: interment in the adjoining cemetery. Mrs Bates is survived by husband Rev. Carlton Bates, 3 daughters Amanda Horton & husband Eric, Kimbery Bryant and & husband Matthew, Kristin bates. 2 sisters Nadine Reed & husband Bud, Wanda Quick and husband Jimmy. Before her illness, Mrs Bates dedicated her life to fund raising and raised over a million dollares for heart and liver transplants. Sandra"s husband was the pastor of our church for several years and we all came to love her. She could sing so sweet. When she got sick with lupus her husband had to quit pastoring the church to take care of her full time even through he had a bad back . They both was always cheerful when you would go to see them even through you know they both was in a lot of pain.
