Janet was born August 1940 in Litchfield, IL the daughter of Norman Wehmeyer and Mabel (Langendorf) Wehmeyer.
Janet grew up in Edwardsville and attended Trinity Lutheran School and Edwardsville Senior High School, graduating in 1958. She earned a 4-year state scholarship. Attended classes in Alton, graduating from SIUE in 1974. She taught school in Edwardsville, Staunton, and Livingston school district. Janet worked at Cassens Transport Company for 19 years until her retirement in 2008.
In 1961, she married Kenneth Reising of Hamel, IL. Janet taught school for seven years while helping on the family dairy farm and raising their two children. Kenneth died in a farming accident in 1984.
She married Carl Baumann in 1992. Janet had many interests including reading, cooking, and painting quilt patterns, which were displayed on their barns. She enjoyed making a nice home for family and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Janet's love of children was evidenced throughout her life by teaching and by initiating activities for the children at every family event. Her family is grateful to all those who have been a part of Janet's battle with leukemia for the past three years. Her faith inspired countless people. Her loving family, her faith, and friends sustained her throughout her life.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel, IL.
She is survived by her husband, Carl Baumann of Highland, IL; son, Dennis (Cathy) Reising of Worden, IL; daughter, Linda (Greg) Easterley of Dunnegan, MO; her four grandchildren, Cally and Katy Reising, and Aaron and Benjamin Easterley; step children, Cindy Baumann of Champaign, IL; Craig (Michelle) Baumann of Indian Land, SC; Clay (Iryna) Baumann of Highland, IL; and step grandchildren, Jariah and Tiffani Baumann, Dalton Stancil, Dmitry Shpak, and Elizabeth Baumann. Three sisters, Suzanne (Ray) Erdmann of Gurnee, IL; Carole (Richard) Carter of Glen Carbon, IL; Viv (Stan) Browning of Peoria, IL; Step mother- in-law, Anna (Rode) Reising.
