John Thomas "J. T." Sheffield passed away after a short battle with cancer in a Des Moines, Iowa hospital near his home. He was born Feb. 17, 1922 in Hill County, Texas to Mose and Maudie Mae Jones Sheffield.

About 1944 he married Ina Mae Neagle in Hillsboro, Hill Co., TX. They had 2 children: Shirley Ann and Jackie Wayne Sheffield. They divorced and J. T. married Bernice Farris. They lived in Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa for many years.

Survived by his wife: Bernice, his daughter Shirley Ann Schmidt, his son Jackie Wayne Sheffield. Five brothers: Roy, Jim, Luther, Raymon and Frank and five sisters: Bessie Thomas, Lula Willett, Susie Baker, Pearl Monroe and Mozelle Votaw.

He was preceded in death by: his father, one sister Vita Pearl Thompson and infant brother Mose Lee Sheffield.

Burial was at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro and Marshall & Marshall was in charge of arrangements.
