Reared in Delaware. Became a Lawyer. Moved to Madison Parish, LA, and was the first Parish Judge of Madison when it became a separate parish in 1838. Married Lavinia Jane Hamilton, widow of Paul Hebert, and lived in Plaquemine on True Hope Plantation. Elected to the Louisiana Legislature from Iberville Parish. Elected again to be Parish Judge of Madison Parish after the War Between the States.
