"CLYDE BLUEJACKET ELECTED CHIEF BY EASTERN SHAWNEES
Miami, Okla. - The Eastern Shawnee Tribe in a recent special meeting elected Clyde Bluejacket, 67, to the office of principal chief, which had been left vacant by the death of Julian Bluejacket last month.

Clyde Bluejacket, an Ottawa County resident all his life, was an uncle of the late chief. He has been a member of the Eastern Shawnee Council the last 20 years and was serving as second councilman at the time of his election to chief.

Chosen to fill his post of second councilman was Robert Kissee of Miami. Other tribal officers are Charles Captain, first councilman; Leo Captain, their councilman, and Mrs. Vergie Envart, secretary-treasurer, all of Wyandotte."

The parents of Clyde were:
Charles B Jr Bluejacket (1831 – 1907)
Carrie Elizabeth Beaver Foreman (1859 – 1943)

Clyde's siblings were: Grover, Teressa, Ida May, Walter Lane, Edward Harrison, Anna, William T., Blanche M., & Amy Lunette.

On May 18, 1920, when he was 17 years old, he married Ethel L. Welch. Ethel was the daughter of Thomas Randolph & Leonora M. (Husselton) Welch. He & Ethel were later divorced.

Clyde & Ethel's children were: Junior William (August 17, 1920 – 1982), Dennis Wayne (November 30, 1922 – 1944), Thomas Lee "Tommie" (May 02, 1924 – 1992), Marjorie Lucille (March 12, 1928 – 1965), & Robert Denton (1930).

"MARTIN WILSON FUNERAL HELD
Indian Ceremonies for Wreck Victim -- Those Injured Recovering.

Funeral services for Martin Wilson, 19-year-old Quapaw Indian who was killed Thursday afternoon when his car ran off the east end of the Spring river bridge near Devil's Promenade, were held at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning at the Beaver home at Devil's Promenade.

The Rev. Harry Curtis was in charge of the funeral services. Victor Griffin held the Indian services at the grave. A large number of persons attended the rites which included the customary Indian ceremonies. Arrangements were in charge of the Cooper Undertaking company.

Meanwhile the five others who were injured were reported to be getting along nicely. All are expected to recover, although Mrs. Hattie Hogan, Mrs. Goldie Parr and Clyde Bluejacket are suffering with severe injuries. Mrs. Hogan received a crushed foot which made amputation necessary.

Mrs. Parr is suffering from a fractured hip. Both women are believed to have internal injuries.

Mr. Bluejacket is suffering from loss of blood. He received numerous cuts and was knocked unconscious by the fall.

Elmer Isadore Quapaw, who is in the American hospital, Picher, has a broken arm and bruises. Gladys Richards, who is in the Miami Baptist hospital with the others, has minor bruises and sprains. Mrs. Hattie Hogan's 2-year-old baby who was in her arms when the accident happened escaped with only slight bruises.

LAMB IS HELD
John Lamb was still being held for investigation by Ottawa county authorities Saturday. He was alleged to have jumped on the running board of the car with another youth just before the accident occurred. ..."
