Born May 15, 1928, in New Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Francis E. and Dora Jewart Adams.
John was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.
He retired from Crawford Furniture in 1992.
He was a member of the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church.
John was a member of the New Bethlehem Moose Lodge 366 and the Western Pennsylvania Moose Legion. He held the Pilgrim degree, the highest in the Moose organization, and served in every office of the Moose throughout his many years of membership.
He enjoyed hunting and attending the Moose meetings.
On June 8, 1952, he married the former Marie Hibbs. John and Marie celebrated 60 years of marriage this past June.
John is survived by his wife; their two sons, Terry F. Adams and friend, Laurie, of New Bethlehem and Johnny Mark Adams and wife, Charlene, also of New Bethlehem; two grandchildren, Shawn Adams and Michelle Adams; a great-grandson, Ian Mangiantini; and two step-grandchildren, Jake Reesman and Paul LaBorde.
Also surviving are two sisters, Ione Miller and her husband, Marshal, of Templeton and Edna Heller and her husband, Robert, of Knox.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Ellen Adams; a granddaughter, Terri Marie Adams; and two brothers, Edward and Donald Lee Adams.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 301 Penn St., New Bethlehem.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Jodie Smith, a pastor with the Redbank Valley United Methodist Ministry, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery on Beautiful Lookout, Mahoning Township, Armstrong County.
