Elwood S. Appel, 66, of 100 Little Britain Road, Nottingham, died Thursday at home after a lengthy illness.
He was self-employed, transporting Amish and hauling trash for a living.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John Sr. and Mary Pickel Appel.
He was married to Charollet Osborne Appel.
Surviving are five sons, Douglas, married to Gloria Appel of Holtwood, David, married to Vanessa Appel of Strasburg, Daniel, married to Deborah Appel of Peach Bottom, Dwayne, married to Tammy Appel of Columbia, and Dale of Kinzers; a daughter, Debbie, married to Richard Barker of Mount Pleasant Mills; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lee of Marticville, Bankson of Birdsboro, and John of Landisville; and three sisters, Betty Graver of Conestoga, Gloria Stone of Marticville and Genevive Trout of Pequea.
