Ila (Aunt Ike) Allen
WOODRUFF, SC-- Ila (Aunt Ike) Marie Wofford Allen, 91, of Woodruff Manor and formerly of 142 Poole Street Extension, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
A native of Woodruff, she was born February 25, 1916 to the late Toy Lester and Leila West Wofford. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher, member of the W.M.U and the Esther Sunday School Class. She was also a faithful prayer warrior. Ms. Allen had been a beautician and was also a retired textile worker from Abney Mill formerly in Woodruff.
Survivors include nieces and nephews throughout the Unites States. She was predeceased by her siblings, Lala Gossett, Lathan Wofford, Jack Wofford and Mary Penland. Ms. Allen loved her family and adored little babies. The family would like to thank the staff of Woodruff Manor for their loving care of Aunt Ike.
Private graveside services were held on Monday, October 1, 2007 at 4:00 PM at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens by Rev. Dennis Spencer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Ms. Allen may be made to Northside Baptist Church, 464 Woodruff Street, Woodruff, SC 29388 or to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
The family was at the home of Doug and Nancy White, 440 Pierce Cook Road, Woodruff.
