Zola Springer, age 94, of Aurora, died Monday, May 3, 2004, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 P.M., Saturday, May 15th at the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Rev. Rick Prettyman will officiate. Private family burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Pleasant View Bible Church or the Hamilton Manor. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

Zola Maude Springer, daughter of Rev. Eugene R. and Mary Carolina (Carrie) Gundy Augspurger, was born August 14, 1909 in Meadows, Illinois. Her family moved to Aurora in 1923, and she graduated from Aurora High School in 1926. She taught in a rural school west of Aurora the following year.

She married Harvey C. Springer on December 10, 1929. They lived on a farm near Giltner, Nebraska and during that time two daughters and one son were born. They moved to Illinois for one year in 1940, and returned to live on a farm near Doniphan, Nebraska. A third daughter was born in 1946. Early in the 1950's the family moved to a farm west of Aurora where they lived until they moved to Aurora in 1963.

She was a lifelong, active member of the Pleasant View Bible Church where her father was pastor in the 1920's and 30's. She taught Sunday School and was Primary Sunday School Superintendent for a number of years. She was a member of the Ladies Aid Society of the church and served as a Deaconess. She was a member of the Gideon's Auxiliary and served as a volunteer with the Aurora Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include one son, Harvery (Janelle) Springer of Omaha; three daughters, Rose Marie Springer of San Francisco, California, Janice (Gordon) Johnson of Aurora and Sally (Dick) Phillips of Minden; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one sister, Zelda Rowe of Algonquin, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers: Ivo, George, Virgil (in infancy), and Aaron Paul and one sister, Margie Oswald.
