Vera E. E. Hillstrom
Vera Emma Ella Hillstrom, 86, of Belle Plaine passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012 in Eau Claire, WI.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 7 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, MN. Rev. Mark Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Belle Plaine.
Vera was born on December 6, 1925 in Belle Plaine Township to Emil and Verona (Buszmann) Schmidt.
She married Roger Clyde Hillstrom on September 16, 1942 at St. John Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine. They farmed in East Union until February 1979 at which time they moved to Belle Plaine.
Vera was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church. She was the first woman to serve on the church council.
Her favorite memories were her fishing adventures up north with her sisters. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and being with her family.
Vera is survived by her daughters, Renee Ahrens of Eau Claire, WI, Rita (Tom) Redman of Chaska and Ruth Ann (Jim) Nytes of Henderson; daughter-in-law, Annette Hillstrom of Jenks, OK; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; son, Ron; brothers and sisters, Alvin, Lorraine, Esther, Leona, Betty and Ervin.
