During World War II, she went to Los Angeles to work in the defense plants. There she married Lee Thomas on June 12, 1945. They lived in California for several years before moving to Charles City, Iowa. In 1957, they moved to Fargo. Lee died in 1986.
Elizabeth worked for many years at North Dakota State University. In her spare time, she enjoyed her garden, her crafts, and her garage sales. She was especially known for her embroidered dish towels.
Elizabeth died at age 92 on May 9, 2008, in her home at Pioneer House in Fargo. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, and she'll be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She is survived by sons James (Linda) and Richard (Kathryn), daughter Rose Lee (John) Wouters, ten grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one great-grandchild; her parents; three brothers, Frank, John, and Ray; and four sisters, Regina Senger, Marcella Wald, Anna Maria Lipp, and Maria Eva Graf.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2:00 pm, at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
