The sun rose in Pelly, TX on February 20, 1928 bringing with it a new day and a new life. Murl Evelyn Cannon was born to Thomas Bryan Tipton and Lola Bell Tipton. Her formative years were spent in Pelly, TX, where she attended the local school and church. She was united in Holy matrimony to Ben H. Cannon. On Wednesday, June 20, 2012, the Lord called upon Murl E. Cannon and she departed this life. Her passing brought sadness to the hearts of all who loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Bryan and Lola Bell Tipton; husband, Ben H. Cannon; son, John T. Sullivan Jr.; brother, J.C. Tipton; three sisters, Mildred Smith, Marie Ford, and Tommie Lee Henderson. To cherish her memories she leaves two daughters, Linda Arel (Steve), and Vickie Smith (Kurt); two sons, James Lee Manuel, Jr., and Larry Ray Maxwell (Diane), 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. She will be remembered always as "Mama" to her children and "Grannie" to her grandchildren; she was famous for her fudge and was an amazing cook; she did special things like baby pies for her children, each one their favorite kind. She loved her animals and soap operas. Pallbearers are Dustin Smith, Brandon Meisner, Steve Arel, and Dwayne Poff. Service is Saturday, June 23, 2012. Visitation will be held at 10am and the Funeral at 11am at Robey Funeral Home, 403 W. Sterling Ave., Baytown, TX 77520, 281-428-9911. Pastor Larry Sopchak, officiating. Interment at Cedar Crest Cemetery.
