Funeral services for Albert Doyle Weems, 78, of Meridian, were held Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at Harrell Memorial Chapel, Dublin, the Rev. Richard Creech officiating, assisted by the Rev. Jimmy Schmidt. Interment followed at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Weems died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at a Clifton hospital. He was born Jan. 16, 1926, in Dublin, to Albert Guy and Oma Mae (Hendrickson) Weems.
Albert was first married to Geraldine Tackett of Dublin/ Edna Hill on Oct 30,1948. They were divorced in 1969, and Geraldine passed away Dec. 22,1979 and is buried in the Barbee Cemetary in Erath County. She was born Mar 15,1928.

On March 26, 1971, he married Joann Gardner in Canton. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Weems was a member of First Christian Church of Dublin and the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Iredell. Weems was preceded in death by a son, Mitchell Dwain Weems in 1995, and by sisters Pansy and Peggy Weems. He is survived by his wife, Joann Weems of Meridian; son Richard Weems of Springtown; grandsons Bryce Laughlin, and Roger Headrick of Meridian; great-granddaughters Sarah Schmidt of Clifton and Lauren Headrick of Koppell; brother Glen Weems of Dublin; sister Patsy Harvey of Dublin; stepdaughters Tony Laughlin, Laura Laughlin, and Rachel Schmidt; and stepson Jeff Laughlin. Harrell Funeral Home, Dublin, was in charge of arrangements.
