Alembert A. Blood
Friday morning last at 8 o'clock Alembert A. Blood surrendered his giant form to the conqueror of all nations and all peoples, his death occurring at his home on Roscoe Street in the town of Lewis. Deceased was born in 1835, being a great grandson of Stephen Roscoe, one of Elizabethtown's pioneer sawmill men and the founder of Roscoe Street in the town of Lewis. Stephen Roscoe's daughter Ruth married Stephen Ashley and became the mother of Ruth Ann Ashley who married Levit Blood and became the mother of Alembert A. Blood.
Deceased lived all his life on the farm where he died with the exception of a few months passed in Chicago, Ill., and Eau Claire, Wis. He was a ponderous man, being of large frame and exceptionally fleshy, weighing in his prime 407 lbs. He had been in poor health for several months and had decreased somewhat in weight. He is remembered in this section as an old time horse farrier and was well known to many horsemen. He is survived by a widow.
Funeral services were held at his late home Sunday afternoon, being largely attended. Rev. A. S. Clark officiated at the funeral and the remains were lowered into the grave in Roscoe cemetery by eight strong men.
