Aaron Gomer Whitworth, 76 of Sapulpa passed away at his home on Sunday, July 29, 2012. He was born on December 7, 1935 in Wade, OK. to Joseph Lewis and Lillie (Hardiman) Whitworth. He retired in 1986 from Sapulpa public schools after being an educator as principal and teacher. He attended high school in Albany, OK. When he graduated he went on to attend Southeastern State University, Durant, OK. completed 6 years of college acquiring a Masters in Elementary Education. He taught at many schools including Liberty, OK. as principal and teacher (1958-1962), Welch, OK. as principal and teacher (1962-1965), and Sapulpa, OK. as a teacher (1965-1986) at Jefferson and Washington schools. He served 2 years in the U.S. Navy in Personnel PN3 (1955-1957) plus 6 years in the U.S. Naval Reserves. He married Georgia Faye Parker in Armstrong, OK. on November 30, 1957, they were best friends. He loved gardening and fishing. He is survived by his wife;Georgia daughter Rebecca and husband Mike Adams; sister, Charlene Mills; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his parents, Joseph Lewis and Lillie Whitworth; and brothers, Odie Lloyd, Joe L. Whitworth and Artie H. Whitworth.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Smith Funeral Chapel, Sapulpa, OK. Officiating will be the Reverends Dale Fish and Marcus Whitworth. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Sapulpa, OK.
